ARP 2025 Conference Program

In addition to celebrating 25 years of ARP, the biennial conference will showcase the diverse, innovative, and rigorous research being conducted in personality science. The biennial meeting will feature programming via symposia, single presenter, idea/data blitzes, posters, and hack-a-thon sessions, along with a 25th Anniversary Symposium, an invited symposium sponsored by the European Association for Personality Psychology (EAPP), and award talks in honor of recent winners of the Emerging Scholar, Tanaka Dissertation, Early Career, and Murray-Helson awards. The 2025 program not only provides opportunities to learn about the work being conducted in all corners of the field but also promotes scholarly discourse. NEW offerings for the program this year include events aimed at promoting social connection among new and returning attendees.

For more details about preconferences, please see the Preconference page. For more details about what is included with your registration, along with social and mentorship event offerings, food, lodging, and transportation, please see the Registration and Logistics pages.

Coming of age in Namibia: A film premiere and discussion

Africa is rich in creative, ambitious, and hopeful young people. The new documentary film “Namibia Up: Being 18 in Africa Today” (by Amber Gayle Thalmayer and Marta Van Patten) offers an inspiring glimpse into their transition to adulthood. Created as a companion to the Africa Long Life Study—a longitudinal exploration of youth development in Namibia, Kenya, and South Africa—the film brings the fascination of lifespan research alive. It follows young Namibians as they reflect on their upbringing and how it differs from that of their elders. They share the dreams that drive them and the challenges they face as they embark on adult lives. Grounded in the Namibian context, the stories echo broader experiences across sub-Saharan Africa, where young people balance traditional values with globalised opportunities. The 40-minute film will be embedded in an interactive discussion about emerging adulthood in general and the hopes and prospects for Africa’s diverse youth in particular.

The film premiere and discussion are open to all to attend on Thursday, June 26 (from 4:30-5:30 PM in the Heritage Ballroom) prior to the Welcome Reception.
