Graduate Training Resources

  • Learning about graduate training in personality: ARP’s Training and Diversity Committees have created a resource for learning about graduate training in personality science. Intended for both mentors and potential applicants, this documentation describes the benefits of graduate training, helps to set expectations about the application process, provides suggestions for paying the bills, and much more! They can be downloaded in Powerpoint or PDF format.
  • Listing of programs: Potential applicants should also view our listing of programs offering master’s and doctoral degrees.

Willness Check

The Willness Check is a new ARP initiative inspired by Will Dunlop’s approach to mentorship, colleagueship, and friendship.

One of the themes people have shared in remembering Will is the warm and open way he would regularly check in on students, colleagues, and friends. He would send a quick email to say “hey” and schedule a chat and see where you were. And then he would listen deeply and share where he was too.

We encourage ARP members to sustain and grow this approach. Every six months, ARP will send an email encouraging you to check in on a student or colleague. ARP will also add the following to our signature on email blasts: “Have you done your Willness check? Reach out to a student or colleague today!”
