Announcements from the ARP Grad/Postdoc Committee

1. ARP Grad/Postdoc Committee Meeting

The ARP Grad/Postdoc Committee will be meeting during the scheduled lunch (12:45-2pm) on Friday, July 17th. We will be meeting at Panera Bread, which is right around the corner from the conference site (Hotel Orrington), at 1700 Sherman Ave. One topic we will be discussing is plans for a possible professional development workshop/mentoring lunch, to take place during the next ARP conference. If you have any specific topics you would like covered during such an event, please either drop by the meeting, or email us before the conference. Our email addresses are below.

2. Rising Stars Symposium

The Rising Stars Symposium is taking place at 10am on Saturday, July 18th.

It will consist of four very interesting-looking talks by graduate students/postdocs:
* Jonathan Adler (Northwestern University) will speak about “The Co-Evolution of Narrative Identity and Mental Health over the Course of Psychotherapy: Results from a Prospective, Longitudinal Study.”
* Joshua Jackson (University of Illinois) will speak about “Variation in the Serotonin Transporter Gene Moderates the Effect of Family Environment on Negative Emotionality.”
* Nicholas Turiano (Purdue University) will speak about “Conscientiousness and Openness as Predictors of Mortality.”
* Simone Walker (University of Toronto, Mississauga) will speak about “A Multi-Method, Multi-Trait Examination of Gratitude and Relationship Quality.”

The symposium is the only symposium scheduled that does not have a competing session! Come and support your fellow talented young researchers!
